And no need to dress up in your finery. Or is there? Is it just that finery means something different when you’re staying in? The soft cling and drape of ultra-soft jersey fabric, a lacey detail added here or there. The slip of silk against bare skin, shimmering on the drop, mellifluous luxury. It might not be what you’d wear on your average Tuesday (though my, how it cheers up a Tuesday if you do). These are the favourite sets, saved for special occasions, like Christmas or birthdays, or even just Saturdays. Wrapped in a robe the next morning and stayed in for as long as the day allows. Dressing up for bedtime can be such a treat.
