Pima cotton was born in the United States in 1911, with the registered trademark Supima following in 1954. The idea? To label the very best of American Pima cotton, as a guarantee of quality to its buyers. Still exclusively grown in the US, this cotton currently represents less than 1% of the world’s current total cotton crop and is strictly regulated to ensure any cotton with the Supima® name has passed a stringent quality-review process. Fibres used for this fabric are 35% longer than regular cotton and, when woven into bed linen, feel smooth and cool to sleep beneath. The fine weave also makes this cotton type soft and silky to the touch, so you’ll get that feeling of waking up in a five-star hotel (minus the room service). The long fibres can be spun into a very fine thread which makes for a delicate, breathable weave – great news for those who tend to sleep hot.
Not only are Supima® cotton sheets naturally cool and silky soft, but they’re also durable, regardless of thread count. Much stronger than regular cotton, you won’t have to worry about wear, tear or pilling as you wash your sheets each week. In fact, we’ve been so won over by the benefits of sleeping in Supima®, we’ve gone one step further and launched our first collection of Supima® cotton towels, too. Thick, fluffy and highly absorbent, while still maintaining their plumpness wash after wash, wrapping up in one after a bath or shower will become a little hit of happiness.
