How to clean

A topper or protector will help extend the life of your mattress and keep it clean. However, it’s good to clean it with a soft brush every other month to remove any build-up of dust or fluff.

For any spills or stains, treat immediately using dry towels or paper towels. Don’t use any detergent or chemical cleaners, as they may damage the fabric.

How to air

Leave any bed linen turned back for a few hours once a week to allow air to circulate around and through the mattress. This allows it to breathe and lets any body moisture dissipate.

When to rotate

As most people tend to sleep in the same position every night, body impressions are a normal occurrence in a mattress where it adapts to your size and sleeping positions. To help ease this, most styles require rotating 180 degrees every three months to keep the filling evenly distributed and even out the wear.

When to turn a mattress

While all mattresses can be rotated seasonally, not all of them will need to be turned. Our Tiverton and Hampden collections are double sided so should be flipped to even out wear. You can do this every three months at the same time as rotating your mattress.

On the other hand, our Hadleigh and Aldbury mattresses are no-turn designs. They are single sided so are crafted to give optimum support on one side, meaning the underside would be much less comfortable to sleep on. They can still be rotated seasonally.

How to rotate and turn your mattress

  1. Remove any bedding, top sheets or mattress protectors

  2. Rotate the mattress 180 degrees so the top of the mattress is now at the foot of the bed. You can use the handles to help you.

  3. If your mattress needs turning, use the handles to lift it onto its edge, dragging it towards you. Then, gently push it forward to flip it onto the other side. If your mattress is heavy, you may need someone to help you.

Time for a new one?

We recommend replacing your mattress every 10 years. After nearly 3,650 nights’ sleep, it will become less and less supportive. That means it might be time to invest in a new mattress for the optimum sleep experience.
