The Thread

Find stories to inspire you, ideas from people we admire and our expertise for a home well curated, a wardrobe well put together, a life well lived.

A place to retreat

It’s raining, it’s pouring. A windy draft rattles the windows, but it’s warm and cosy in here. Our nostalgic bedroom recalls the safe and secure feeling of childhood, but upgraded with grown-up sophistication.

Beneath the sheets

Long, busy days, with an escape and a sanctuary at the end. Make a beeline for the relaxation zone of the bedroom – tucking yourself in sumptuously soft sheets. The classic stripe pattern brings a lovely depth to the soft, brushed-cotton flannel. Before you know it, you'll be drifting off into sound slumbers.

A room with a warm hug

In search of that extra warmth, we’re reaching for plush, plump and pleasing-to-touch textures. A hot-water bottle with a silky-soft faux-fur covering, that you can furrow your fingers into, soft as a favourite cat, making everything feel just that bit more snug through the night. Slip it under the duvet so the bed is warmed before you get in.

Dressed to chill

We all have our ways to practise our wind-down routines. Lighting a candle to set the mood, a cup of tea on the bedside table, five more minutes to read another chapter. Whatever yours is, take a moment to tuck yourself into the cosiest pyjamas – soft brushed cotton or slippery, smooth silk – and have a cuddly robe on hand in case you need to make a dash to the bathroom before lights out.
