Sleek simplicity with exquisite extra detail. With a relaxed drape, our tablecloth is made from a linen-cotton blend and finished with a special hem that’s been hand-worked by skilled artisans in Vietnam. The thread-drawn detail is described as ‘jour’, meaning day work, and the effect can only be done by hand. It takes around eight hours to create the jour-stitch detailing onto one tablecloth.
Vietnam has a rich history of traditional handicrafts, and we’re proud to have been working with our supplier there for over 20 years. In a small group of villages near Hanoi, known as ‘the golden villages’, women work together in homes and small workshops to create this exquisite embroidery for us. Honing this skill is a legacy passed down through communities. It’s a vital industry for women in rural areas, enabling them to earn an income working in, or near, their homes.
