Simple pleasures: foraging for berries

Bundled up in the season’s first jumpers and scarves. Armed with baskets and bags, ready to harvest the juicy purple berries peeping out from hedgerows as you wander through the woodlands. It’s not just the little ones that are dodging the brambles, to be rewarded with sticky fingers and stained T-shirts. One for taking home, one for you – the taste is just too good to resist. You can already smell the crumble you’re going to bake later. Warm and welcoming, served with a generous dollop of cream. It’s the first sign that winter is on its way but, for now, it’s time to savour the late summer sun and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
